Zusammenfassung:Herpes simplex virus (HSV), varicella-zoster virus (VZV), and cytomegalovirus (CMV) are herpesviruses that commonly infect children. Although specific antiviral agents are available for treating infected patients, they should be used judiciously to prevent the emergence of resistant strains of the viruses. This report reviews antiviral agents with activity against HSV, VZV, and CMV and their indications in immunocompetent children.
