Zusammenfassung:In amphibians, as well as in fish, prolactin (PRL) is involved in the regulation of several functions, including osmoregulation and adaptation to ambient conditions. The aim of the present study was to assess whether PRL may be involved in the stress response to captivity. Corticosterone and PRL plasma levels were assessed in the same sample (M). Concurrently, PRL mRNA expression was evaluated using a bullfrog PRL RNA probe by Northern and dot blot analysis.
