To the Editor: When Sloan et al. compared guns, gun laws, and homicide rates in Vancouver and Seattle, 1 the study was denounced by me 2 , 3 and, among others, two of the leading criminologists on the gun issue — Wright 4 and Kleck, who said: The research was worthless. There isn't a legitimate gun control expert in the country who regarded it as legitimate research. There were only two cities studied, one Canadian, one U.S. There are literally thousands of differences across cities that could account for violence rates, and these authors just arbitrarily seized on gun levels and gun control levels as . . .
