Zusammenfassung: | Arthritis involving the first MTP joint is not an uncommon observation in daily clinical practice. Gout is the most frequent cause. However, in the evaluation of any monarthritis, arthrocentesis should be considered, especially when no cause can be identified based on a confirmed previous diagnosis. Open synovial biopsy disclosed caseating granulomata, and culture of the synovium was positive for Mycobacterium tuberculosis. |
