Zusammenfassung:One hundred and thirty-two people aged 90 years and over were identified in a study of the prevalence of dementia. One third lived in institutions, a third were demented and half were unable to prepare a simple meal or do light housework. None was entirely free of mental or physical disability but many functioned satisfactorily at a simple level with the help of family members and the domiciliary services.
