Zusammenfassung: | Compositional analysis of glycoconjugates is of fundamental importance in the structural characterization of these compounds. Commonly employed methods include gas–liquid chromatography (GLC) of volatile derivatives of sugars and liquid chromatography (LC). Recently, high-performance pellicular anion-exchange resins have been shown to provide highly efficient separation of unmodified standard monosaccharides as their oxyanion at alkaline pH. Moreover, monosaccharides in the column effluent can be sensitively and specifically quantified by pulsed amperometry. The chapter also discusses the detection and quantification of oligosaccharides. This chapter concludes with a discussion of the analysis of biological samples. |
