Zusammenfassung:Infants less than two years of age have a greater chance of burn injury and can be harder to treat than more mature children. Two hundred children less than 24 months of age were admitted to a burn center. Most commonly, burns involved contact with hot liquids, clothing, or curling irons. Almost 20% of the injuries were investigated by social services, and almost 20% of these children were assigned to foster care. The length of hospitalization was related to the size of the burn, with about one day per percent of burn required. None of the children died.
