Zusammenfassung: | Asks whether there are detrimental effects of early recognition of risk. When ability to recognize disease risk surpasses current effectiveness of treatments, there may be adverse psychological effects. Ability to control future health is associated with the fear that one might fail to do so. For most, such healthy anxiety leads to productive efforts at health prevention. For others, anxiety may reach clinical levels and be associated with adverse consequences. Greater efforts should be made to screen for such problems. |
