Apparent normal phenotype of Fgf6-/- mice

To study the role of the sixth member of the FGF (fibroblast growth factor) family whose expression is restricted to skeletal muscle, we have derived mouse mutants with a homozygous disruption of the Fgf6 gene. The animals are viable, fertile and apparently normal, indicating that FGF6 is not requir...

Zusammenfassung:To study the role of the sixth member of the FGF (fibroblast growth factor) family whose expression is restricted to skeletal muscle, we have derived mouse mutants with a homozygous disruption of the Fgf6 gene. The animals are viable, fertile and apparently normal, indicating that FGF6 is not required for vital functions in the laboratory mouse.
