Zusammenfassung: | We describe a patient with no clinical evidence of congenital heart disease who was clinically diagnosed with Staphylococcus aureus endocarditis and died unexpectedly. At autopsy perforation of the aorta together with postductal coarctation of the aorta was found. Bacterial colonization of thrombotic aggregates in the aortic wall resulted in destruction of the vascular wall. The clinical course of endarteritis is similar to that of endocarditis. |
