Zusammenfassung: | Leaching of tributyltin compounds from antifouling paints has resulted in pollution of waterways and shellfish which inhabit these waters. A method has been developed to measure tributyltin levels in oyster samples which uses gas chromatography-low resolution mass spectrometry with selected ion detection. The recovery levels of tributyltin using this method range from 87% to 91% and the compound can be quantitated with accuracy when it is present in the 100 ng/g range. Significant quantities of tributyltin were detected in oysters collected from several regions of New Zealand. |
