We reviewed the charts of all infants born at the University of Kentucky Medical Center between 1986 and 1988 in whom ROP developed. These included 11 infants with Grade III or IV ROP, 26 with Grade II ROP, and 56 with Grade I ROP. A sample of 39 preterm infants born during the same period formed a comparison group.
