Zusammenfassung: | Some of the properties of taurine in the CNS are but localized applications of general biological phenomena involving this substance. Other properties of taurine in the CNS are special applications of membrane stabilization to excitable tissues. Calcium-induced changes in membranes serve as signals for hormone and neurotransmitter release, for excitation-contraction responses, and as signals for other processes. The membrane stabilizing action of taurine modifies membrane responses to Ca super(2+), and hence the interpretation of the signal by whatever is coupled to it. |
