Zusammenfassung:	Chromosome number of an axenically grown Trichomonas vaginalis isolate was studied using a 1 mM solution of colchicine and a hypotonic swelling technique. The diploid chromosome number was 2n = 12. Each pair of chromosomes can be identified by its morphology and size. This observation could be important with respect to gene mapping and molecular cloning for genes of T. vaginalis.
