Zusammenfassung: | This report describes a female patient with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) who was infected with the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). Using stored serum, the precise timing of HIV seroconversion was determined and the early effects of HIV infection on SLE examined. This infection resulted in clinical improvement and the disappearance of autoantibody production. A literature review of the association between HIV and SLE is provided. |
