Insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus and coeliac disease

The prevalence of coeliac disease as determined by screening among patients with insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (IDDM) is higher than suspected. Controlled clinical trials will determine if it is worthwhile to screen IDDM patients for coeliac disease.
