Implementing the Community-University Model: Dietetics Students Collaborate with Volunteers of America

Lee et al describe an educational project that linked Didactic Program in Dietetics students with congregate meal sites administered by Volunteers of America of Los Angeles. The project identified areas of nutritional risk in congregate meal participants, determined subject matter that should be incorporated into education offered at the sites and provided students the opportunity to develop skills in needs assessment, data analysis and intervention planning.
