Zusammenfassung:The stable prevalence of infective endocarditis since the advent of antibiotic prophylaxis for patients at‐risk reflects the increasing polymicrobial etiology of such infections not associated with dental procedures. In addition to concerns for the growing crisis for antibiotic‐resistant bacteria, the need for controlled clinical trials to determine the continued efficacy of prophylactic regimens for endodontic and other denial procedures cannot be overstated.
