Zusammenfassung:	Although in HIV, like in other infections, IgM seems to represent the primary response, so far most HIV serological techniques were aimed at assaying IgG specific antibodies only. The authors studied the incidence and average life span of anti HIV IgM before the production of anti-HIV IgG in two groups of parenteral drug addicts (PDAs), 180 attending a Drug Addicts' Assistance Centre (DAAC) and 135 admitted to the Infectious Diseases Department because of acute hepatitis.
