Hemodynamic effects of acute ethanol in young adults

In summary, we studied the hemodynamic effects of ethanol ingestion in young people at specific, predetermined ethanol levels of 0.025%, 0.05%, and 0.075%. Our most important findings were a decrease in end-systolic wall stress (afterload) and a decrease in myocardial contractility with ingestion of...

Zusammenfassung:In summary, we studied the hemodynamic effects of ethanol ingestion in young people at specific, predetermined ethanol levels of 0.025%, 0.05%, and 0.075%. Our most important findings were a decrease in end-systolic wall stress (afterload) and a decrease in myocardial contractility with ingestion of ethanol at concentrations that would be found in social drinking.
