Zusammenfassung: | In the present study the authors examined paired isolates from patients who had systemic disease due to a type b strain and who also had a nontypable strain isolated from their nasopharynx. These paired isolates were previously identified during a study to determine the effectiveness of systemic antibiotic therapy on eradication of H. influenzae from the nasopharynx. Four of 34 patients with systemic type b disease had nontypable H. influenzae isolated from the nasopharynx during the course of their antibiotic therapy. |
