Zusammenfassung:The authors report a case of actinomycetoma of the hand acquired in the United States where N. asteroides was the etiologic agent, rather than the more commonly found N. brasiliensis . They successfully treated the patient by using a short course of intravenous therapy with amikacin and trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole (TMP-SMZ) followed by a prolonged oral regimen with TMP-SMZ alone.
