Zusammenfassung:The wider application of marrow transplantation to a variety of diseases has resulted in more patients undergoing BMT and living for longer periods. 16 Further research is needed to document the variety of psychosocial factors that influence patients' adaptation to the entire transplantation process. Nurse clinicians and researchers can play a central role in designing and conducting this research. Comprehensive nursing care for marrow transplantation patients and their families is based on an understanding of both the physiologic and psychosocial aspects of transplantation.
