Zusammenfassung: | Pyomyositis is an acute bacterial infection of skeletal muscle that affects young men in the tropics and is due, in almost all cases, to Staphylococcus aureus. Rheumatic complications of typhoid fever include osteitis and purulent or reactive arthritis. Although muscle pain is noted in similar to 25% of the patients with acute typhoid fever, pyomyositis has not been mentioned as an isolated complication of the disease. Herein, we report a case of psoas pyomyositis due to Salmonella typhi in a non-HIV-infected woman. |
