Zusammenfassung: | The identification of 5-HT receptor sub-types has seen a remarkable expansion over the last 5 years and the pace of new discoveries shows no sign of slacking. Hence the review by Saudou and Hen (1994) provides a timely summary of the current position in respect of the genetic and biochemical characterization of the major receptor sub-types. In response, we propose briefly to consider several issues associated with the characterization of the receptor sub-types at various functional levels, their localization and regulation at the genomic level and their postulated roles in man in behaviour and psychotropic drug action. |
