Tacrolimus for prevention of liver allograft rejection: clinical trials and tribulations

The transplant community has been polarized by the immunosuppressant tacrolimus. Clinical trials by T. E. Starzl and colleagues on the use of tacrolimus to prevent rejection of a transplanted liver have been criticized for several reasons, including being influenced by observer bias.
