Zusammenfassung: | Following the cease-fire in the 1991 Persian Gulf War, 97 students attending school programs for the gifted and talented in British Columbia, Canada, were invited to participate in an exploratory study consisting of a series of openended questions. In general, students believed that adults had learned little from the conflict and tended to hold to the same views after the war had ended. To avoid warfare, students suggested a number of options. They were critical of the role played by political and economic demands and the media, and described a range of personal emotions and behavioral changes which occurred during the period of hostilities. The role played by families in providing support and information during this time appeared to be substantial. |
