Emphysematous Pyelonephritis as Seen on Technetium-99m DTPA Renal Imaging

A Tc-99m DTPA scan performed on a woman with emphysematous pyelonephritis showed a large reniform photon deficient area in the region of the affected kidney. Though radioisotope scanning in renal emphysema has been reported, this finding has not been previously described.
