Zusammenfassung:Oriental cholangitis and hepatocellular carcinoma are both common in South East Asia, but rarely occur in the same patient. Cholescintigraphy has a significant role in the evaluation of Oriental cholangitis and the presence of a large persistent photopenic defect (due to hepatocellular carcinoma) may be misinterpreted as an abscess or dilated biliary ducts secondary to Oriental cholangitis.
