Zusammenfassung: | To the Editor.—
The recent paper by Millunchick and McArtor (Pediatrics 1986;77:369-370) succinctly describes the danger of aspiration associated with the use of a makeshift pacifier and suggests that intensive care and normal nurseries purchase one-piece commercial pacifiers. Although the recommendation to avoid the use of contrived pacifiers is certainly well founded, the limitation to one-piece pacifiers seems overly restrictive.
Multipiece pacifiers are just as safe as the one-piece varieties. Strict federal safety standards (16CFR Part 1511) apply to all pacifiers. |
