Zusammenfassung: | We describe our recent experiences with H. influenzae type f disease at The Children's Mercy Hospital, a university-affiliated, tertiary care and referral center for Kansas City and the surrounding area. We present 3 cases that occurred during a 39-month period from March, 1991, to June, 1994, and review the literature on H. influenzae type f infections of children and adults. Antimicrobial susceptibilities of the isolates were determined by disc diffusion tests with a standard panel of the following six antibiotics: amoxicillin with clavulanic acid; ampicillin; cefotaxime; ceftriaxone; chloramphenicol; and trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole. |
