Zusammenfassung:After providing incidence data, identifying stereotypes, and defining abuse, this article discusses domestic violence in the context of patterns of covert and overt control rather than looking at isolated incidents of battering. Ways to assess the likelihood of an emergency room or a doctor's office visit being the result of domestic violence are outlined as well as methods of assessing the degree of immediate danger to the woman.
