Zusammenfassung: | It was reported earlier that luteinizing hormone (LH) is detected in the bovine pineal gland, identical with pituitary LH with respect to immunochemical, physicochemical, and biological properties, LH has also been detected in various structures of the central nervous system and in the visceral organs in hypophysectomized rats. In response to the administration of luliberin to hypophysectomized rats, LH is detected in the blood in amounts exceeding the basal level of LH in hypophysectomized animals. In connection with this, extrapituitary sources of LH in the rat organism can be hypothesized. The purpose of the present communication was to present the results of investigations in search of the sites of extrapituitary synthesis of LH in the central nervous system. |
