Characteristics of support for mandatory licensure among respondents to a state-wide survey

Extract: Of the 2,435 members of the Ohio Dietetic Association surveyed regarding their attitudes toward mandatory licensure, 83.7 per cent responded. Results indicated that 73.7 per cent of respondents (1,404) would support a mandatory licensure law if it were equivalent to current Commission on Dietetic Registration requirements. Support was related to whether a proposed law contained a "grandfather" provision. Age of the respondent and years of experience in the field of dietetics differentiated supporters who insisted upon "grandfathering" from those who did not.(author)
