Quality control parameters of intraoperative radiation therapy

The Intraoperative Radiation Therapy (IORT) Working Group has developed quality control parameters for the use and evaluation of IORT. Full co-operation is necessary between a large number of professionals including surgeons, radiation therapists, physicists, OR nurses, and radiation therapy technologists. Attention must be paid to the details of planning, executing, and documenting the IORT for accurate treatment to be delivered. Long-term evaluation of this modality will be facilitated by consistent reporting of schemes of dose delivery, failure patterns, and complications.
