Zusammenfassung: | Several strains of African arenaviruses have been isolated since the viral etiology of Lassa Fever was first recognized in 1969. With the recent isolation of Mobala virus in the Central African Republic, several agents resembling Lassa virus (LV) have been isolated from rodents in different geographical locations in Africa. The isolation of these arenaviruses prompted the authors to determine their degree of relatedness. Some antigenic, biochemical, and genetic characteristics of these LV and LV-like arenaviruses have been studied. |
