Zusammenfassung:Change in fluorescence polarization of intracellular fluorescein measured with a specially adapted flow cytometer reliably reflected subtle biophysical changes in cells, such as those accompanying increased temperature or osmolality of the suspending medium. This system was developed to monitor changes in lymphocytes one hour after stimulation with the mitogen phytohaemagglutinin, and provided a sensitive and rapid assay of lymphocyte activation.
