Zusammenfassung:Psychosocial support and education of cancer patients is a difficult task for many physicians. Patients are much in need of this kind of help, but the confrontation with cancer is not an easy one for most people, including physicians. In this article, on the basis of a literature review, some problems of helping are described and some suggestions for strengthening the physician's role are done.
