Zusammenfassung:	Detection of gastrointestinal bleeding using Tc-99m labeled RBCs has proven to be clinically useful although false-positive images associated with abnormal vascularity remain problematic. The scintigraphic appearance of a large mesenteric varix is presented, and its potential confusion with gastrointestinal bleeding is discussed. Correlative CT and angiographic images are presented.
