Zusammenfassung:A 29-year-old man with chronic back pain not associated with any neuropathy was imaged with planar and SPECT bone scintigraphy. Increased uptake of the radiopharmaceutical was noted in the posterior elements of L4. Plain film radiographs demonstrated abnormal contact of the apposing spinous processes (“kissing spines”), which results in reactive sclerosis causing increased uptake on the bone scintigrams.
