The recent testimony at a Senate hearing concerning the acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) among U.S. soldiers and prostitutes in Berlin has resulted in a great deal of publicity and concern in both the American military and German civilian communities here in West Berlin. The purpose of this letter is to expand on the data presented by Dr. William Haseltine and to clarify the conclusions from those data as reported in the public media.
