HLA-DQA1 and -DQB1 gene haplotypes in familial cardiomyopathy

Observations in familial dilated cardiomyopathy suggest a role for the human leukocyte antigen (HLA)-DQB1 gene in the susceptibility to cardiac disease. Both HLA-DQB1 and HLA-DQA1 haplotypes are associated with disease expression and autoantibody production.
