Zusammenfassung: | A study assessed the effects of long-term vitamin E repletion to correct vitamin E deficiency on neurological function in 14 children of various ages (ages 19 months to 17.5 years; 10 girls, 4 boys) with chronic cholestasis. The results indicated that the potential for returning to neurological normalcy was greatest for young children and was more limited with advancing age. Based on these findings, it is concluded that vitamin E repletion therapy in children should be started at as early an age as possible.(wz) |
