Zusammenfassung: | The Skn alloantigens of the mouse are strain-specific proteins confined to cells sharing a common ectodermal lineage. Proteins encoded by Skn are expressed in epidermal cells of skin and distinct populations of neural cells of adult mice, yet fail to accumulate in hematopoietic cells. In order to begin to resolve these issues as well as to provide a basis for characterizing strain-specific polymorphisms in Skn genes, we have initiated a molecular genetic characterization of the Skn histoincompatibility system. Using a monoclonal antibody (C4 mAb) directed against the Skn 2.1 alloantigen to type AXB and BXA panels of recombinant inbred (RI) strains for the presence or absence of the Skn 2 super(a) allele allowed us to determine linkage between Skn 2 and previously identified loci on chromosome 10 in these RI strains. |
