Triterpenoid saponins from the aerial parts of Lonicera japonica

Two new triterpenoid saponins, loniceroside A and B, were isolated from the aerial parts of Lonicera japonica. Their structures were established as 3- O-α- l-arabinopyranosyl hederagenin 28- O-α- l-rhamnopyranosyl (1→2)-[β- d-xylopyranosyl(1→6)]-β- d-glucopyranosyl ester and 3- O-α- l-rhamnopyranosyl(1→2)-α- l-arabino- pyranosyl hederagenin 28- O-α- l-rhamnopyranosyl(1→2)-[β- d-xylopyranosyl(1→6)]-β- d-glucopyranosyl ester, respectively.
