Zusammenfassung:	To continue our effort of determining the relation between structure and immunological specificity, tetrasaccharide was synthesized related to the repeating unit of the antigen from Klebsiella type 55. Except for the acetyl group at the 2-position of the L-rhamnose moiety, this tetrasaccharide has all the features of the repeating unit of the K55 polysaccharide. Reported are the details of the synthesis.
