End-of-life care for older patients dying in an acute general hospital—can we do better?

Research in a hospital in Aintree reviewing case notes concerning deaths among older patients. The documentation of care and symptom relief, the benefits of introducing the Liverpool Care Pathway for the dying patient and the possibility of management in nursing homes in the community rather than hospital are considered.
