Zusammenfassung: | Breast cancer affects one in nine women in the UK; consequentially most extended family groups will have had someone affected. Media attention to the discovery of the gene responsible for some inherited breast cancers (BRCA1 and 2) led to an increase in women seeking screening. Previously, clinicians in symptomatic breast clinics have provided the care for women with a family history of breast cancer. This service was becoming oversubscribed, so breast care nurses took over provision of the service. Describes a study that evaluated the new service to establish if its quality was improved and acceptable to clients. (Quotes from original text) |
