Zusammenfassung: | Among the persons selected for this profile series, John Enders was one of three contributors to the conquest of infectious diseases. Of these three, he most consistently applied basic biologic research to finding timely solutions to clinical problems. For this, he justly, along with his colleagues, received the Nobel Prize in medicine. Though strictly speaking not a pediatrician, he worked in a pediatrics department, and his close research and clinical associates throughout his career were pediatricians.—
