Zusammenfassung:Experience in revascularization for acute splanchnic ischemia is cited. In eight patients, an embolus to the superior mesenteric artery was removed; in three, arterial reconstruction for acute thrombosis was accomplished; and in two, nonorganic occlusion was found. Two patients died suddenly after successful intestinal revascularization. Cardiac failure and hepatic failure were the causes of these deaths. No severe acidosis, massive hyperkalemia, or absorption of toxic intestinal substance was noted in these patients. These results are in sharp contrast to those recorded in experimental acute intestinal ischemia.
